Sure, you can take a drive down the road and pick up a “fresh” pine tree that was cut last month, but why not take your pick straight from the farm?
Have a hot drink in the barn or visit a petting zoo with exotic animals at the Candy Cane Christmas Tree Farm in Oxford. With nine varieties of trees on 15 acres, you can choose and cut your own tree, then have it shaken and wrapped for easy transport. Pre-cut trees, fresh wreaths and roping are also available. Open daily through Dec. 21.
A stunning scenic array of beautiful rolling pine covered hills, and sparkling frozen ponds await you at Santa's Pride Christmas Trees in Clinton Township. Good looks aren't all they have going for them, Santa's Pride boasts a huge assortment of high quality trees, including Blue Spruce, Black Hills Spruce, Douglas Fir, White and Austrian Pine. Open daily, they offer free wagon rides bring you to the trees, and tree carts to bring your tree back so you don't have to drag it. They even have free bundling so your tree gets home safely!
The first two weeks in December you can catch a horse-drawn wagon ride and visit Santa Claus at Western's Tree Farm in Applegate. Open daily through Dec. 22, Western's has tractor wagon rides, a log cabin gift shop, an animal reserve, tree wrapping, wreaths, garlands and grave blankets. Spread over 190 acres you can find Scotch pines, Douglas Fir, blue spruce, Fraser fir, Austrian pine and white pine trees.
Free coffee and hot chocolate can be found at the Giacoletti Christmas Tree Farm in Saint Charles. Wreaths, roping, and grave blankets are available at the gift shop, and Colorado blue spruce, Fraser fir, Scotch pine and White spruce trees are available on 35 acres of possibilities. Open daily through Dec. 24.
During the winter season you can come choose and cut your own real Christmas tree at Ruby Farms in Ruby, just northwest of Port Huron. Choose from a large selection of Fraser fir, Douglas fir and spruce. Saws and all equipment are provided. Pre-cut trees and tree wrapping are available.
